Welcome to Moodle! This guide has how to documents, information, and Moodle help.

Discussion Forum Types

A standard forum for general use is an open forum where anyone can start a new discussion at any time. This is the most common and least restrictive type of discussion forum.

If you're not sure which forum type to specify, use the standard forum. If you want to specify how and when students post to the forum, please reach out to coursehelp@viterbo.edu for advice. We are happy to help!

A standard forum displayed in a blog-like format is an open forum where anyone can start a new discussion at any time, and in which discussion topics are displayed on one page with "Discuss this topic" links.

In a Q and A forum, students must first post their perspectives before viewing other students' posts. See the actvity below to learn how to create a Q and A forum.

In a single simple discussion, the instructor posts single discussion topic which everyone can reply to. This discussion forum type cannot be used with groups.

In the forum type where each person posts one discussion, each student can post exactly one new discussion topic, which everyone can then reply to.
