If you use ratings to assess your discussion forums, but struggle to enter grades/feedback, consider this two-screen method of entering grades.

Whole forum grading allows you to review student entries similar to the assignment activity, where you can review and assess discussion posts and responses by student, or in context of the discussion. The added bonus of whole forum grading is that you can enter grades while reviewing student posts and responses by entering a direct grade, or via a rubric or grading guide.
