The Book tool in Moodle is not the ability to add a course text (as you might think). In Moodle, this particular tool allows you to group content as chapters into a book-like format with a table of contents. A book can organize detailed or thematic content in your course without having all items show on the main course page.

If you would like to share a particular resource or activity across multiple courses that you teach, consider using the Sharing Cart. While the course import function is meant for importing an entire course, the sharing cart is handy when you only want to import/share a few activities or resources across courses.

If you want to import your content from a previous semester or from another course, here's how.

Copying and pasting text into Moodle may seem simple, however, formatted text can cause havoc and actually prevent you from editing your course at all! Follow these instructions to properly paste text into Moodle.

Adding files, such as Word documents and PDFs is as simple as drag and drop--or you can use the Activity/Resource chooser in Moodle.

The folder resource allows you to upload multiple files to display as a list to students. This tool is handy when the number of files listed on the course home page becomes overwhelming.
