Video tutorials and guides for using the online library.

Book Searches

To Search for a Book:

Go to Viterbo Library's home page.         http://www.viterbo.edu/library

If you are searching for a specific book, enter the title into the Library Catalog search box.  If you want books on a certain topic enter the topic's keywords into the search box.

Click on the Advanced Search button for more detailed search options.

To see only books, limit the format to "Book" under Refine This Search.  You can limit to print books only, eBooks only, or both print AND eBooks.

If it is a print book and Viterbo has it, you will see the location and the call number.

If it is an eBook, you can click on the View eBook link to get to the full text.

If you don't see what you want in Viterbo's library, you can expand your search to Libraries Worldwide.  In most cases you can borrow the book by requesting it through Interlibrary Loan.

Using the Library Catalog to Find Books & More

Interlibrary Loan

What is Interlibrary Loan?

If a current student, faculty, or staff can't find an item through Viterbo's resources, in most cases we can borrow it from another library.

How Do I Request Items?

Watch the instructional video which walks you through the two ways of creating a request:

  1. Manual request where you have a citation and are manually entering the information.
  2. Automatic request where you are requesting an article where you found the citation though a database.

How Long Will it Take For My Items to Arrive?

Articles typically arrive in 7 days or less, while books may take 1 to 2 weeks.
